Africa Adventure - June 2007

I want to share some thoughts about an upcoming trip.

I am preparing for (or already traveling on) a trip to Malawi, Africa that I will be taking this June.  I am one of eight people from all of North America to qualify for this once in a lifetime adventure. 

NuSkin Enterprises has a charitable activity in which many of the worldwide distributors participate: Nourish the Children.  NTC has built a food processing plant in Malawi, Africa where crops are purchased from the local farmers and converted into a nutritionally balanced “VitaMeal”.  Our customers and we distributors can purchase the bags of food and then donate them back to one of many causes, most often Lee Iacocca’s Feed the Children campaign.  We have also shipped VitaMeal bags to the Tsunami neighborhoods and to New Orleans Katrina victims. Over 80 MILLION meals have been served!

A recent promotion encouraged us to recruit others to donate on a regular basis.  New contributors were worth more points than our personal contributions.  A regular monthly contribution of $100 provides about 150 meals.  I was pleasantly surprised to learn that I won the trip from among the thousands of NuSkin distributors.  A few others from Canada, Europe and Japan will also be on this trip as well as the president of NuSkin Enterprises and other corporate personnel.

In addition to the VitaMeal plant, NuSkin and its other charitable endeavor, “Force for Good Foundation” are building a village that will provide shelter and schooling for many of the families of the Malawi region.  We will be participating in a dedication of the village while we are in Malawi. 

I will be traveling to London a few days early to spend a few days in the English countryside before meeting up with the group to fly to Africa.  Hopefully, I will have an opportunity to update these pages during the journey, otherwise, check back in early July.

NuSkin also placed its first advertisement ever; choosing the May 2007 edition of Oprah Winfrey’s “O” magazine.  Fittingly it is a corporate ad (not a product promotion) featuring our work with Nourish the Children.

I feel very fortunate to be participating in such a worthwhile journey and with a company, which has such high ideals.
