This was the maiden visit to Naha City, on the Island of
Okinawa, by the Crystal Harmony, so I felt it only appropriate to photographed
with a maiden.
So often the towns people greet the ship very warmly. This port is not one
visited by very many cruise ships. Although Naha is a resort destination, most
of the visitors are Japanese. There was a US military presence here, but few
signs were in English and there seemed to be little effort to cater to the
American visitor.
We were greeted in Naha by the Queen of the city along with local native
dancers. The dance troupe returned at the end of the day to see us off as
well.

The Market
Place - Kokusai Shopping Center

Many of you already know of my fascination with the colors of
the market place. Well, here in Naha I again found people, colors, shapes and
textures that I wanted to share with you.
Nearly all of the shopkeepers were elderly; where are the young people? |

I only walked the main street through the center of town. It
was Sunday and many shops were closed. There are other attractions in Naha,
such as the Shuri-jo Castle, Gyokusendo Limestone Cave and many war memorials
for both the Japenese and Americans. But that will have to wait for another
visit. |
